Star S4 Excimer Laser
At Medical Eye Center, we use our own state-of-the-art, FDA-approved Excimer laser. Excimer lasers were developed originally for high-precision computer chip etching. The Excimer laser beam works without heat. During the iLASIK procedure, the laser is activated in single pulses, each of which removes ten-millionths of an inch of tissue in twelve-billionths of a second. Guided by Dr. Imperia’s expertise, the laser precisely reshapes the cornea without disturbing the surrounding area of the eye. The VISX Star S4 laser system used by Dr. Imperia is the most advanced laser technology available today. It has FDA approval to treat hyperopia, myopia and astigmatism. This laser provides a tremendous amount of precision, control and safety in the surgical correction of vision errors. Our laser is vigilantly maintained in peak operating condition by our own laser engineer.
