Michael Hoyt, OD

Dr. Michael Hoyt is an optometric physician therapeutically certified by the State of Oregon. His hospital-based residency puts him in the rare company of the fewer than two percent of optometrists nationwide who have completed this additional training. Dr. Hoyt continues to stay involved with the latest innovations in eye care through ongoing participation in clinical research.

Dr. Hoyt's expertise and extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and postoperative care of medical eye conditions including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration make him an invaluable part of the Medical Eye Center team. He provides assessment and follow-up care for laser vision correction patients and performs minor surgical procedures such as removal of foreign bodies from the eyes and small protrusions from the lids. Dr. Hoyt also fits contact lenses including bifocals and specialty lenses for keratoconus and astigmatism.

"I feel very lucky to have a job that I really enjoy," Dr. Hoyt says. "I love helping my patients with their vision and getting to know them on a more personal level, and the people I work with are great! Without them, I wouldn't be able to do what I do."

Michael is a cycling enthusiast frequently participating in organized events and races. He also enjoys skiing, music and photography. His wife, Kimberly, also practices at Medical Eye Center. The Hoyts have one son, Nathan.
