Upper and Lower Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery, medically known as Blepharoplasty, is a common procedure performed to restore droopy, sagging, or puffy eyelids, and reduce bags under the eyes. Many people choose blepharoplasty to restore impaired vision or refresh their appearance.
Upper Eyelid
Excess upper eyelid skin can sag or hang down over the lashes and may interfere with vision. This often results in a sense or appearance of fatigue, the appearance of being angry or upset, and occasionally reduced peripheral vision. If vision is not significantly impaired and doesn’t meet your insurance company’s criteria, blepharoplasty is considered cosmetic. An upper eyelid blepharoplasty is done through an upper eyelid crease incision, and will remove excess skin and fat, creating a natural, well-rested look and often improving vision. The upper lid blepharoplasty can be done alone or may be combined with other procedures such as a brow or forehead lift, a lower lid blepharoplasty or a laser procedure.
Lower Eyelid
A lower eyelid blepharoplasty is done to treat lower lid “bags” or puffiness. We offer you the most advanced cosmetic technique to achieve a natural, well-rested look. This is accomplished by repositioning the lower eyelid fat pads that create the appearance of “bags”. The result is an improved contour of the lower eyelid. As with the upper eyelid blepharoplasty, the lower lid procedure can be done alone or combined with other procedures such as upper lid, or forehead lift. Wrinkles of the lower lid that are troublesome can be treated with laser. Unlike the upper lid blepharoplasty, lower lid blepharoplasty is always considered cosmetic, and not covered by insurance.
