Why should I buy my glasses at Medical Eye Center?
Convenience, Quality and Value— We use top quality, fashionable frames and lenses to provide you with the sharpest, most comfortable vision possible. Additionally, we work with your eye doctor to insure the best optics for you. Our opticians are nationally certified in technical optics to better help you with your vision needs.
How long will my glasses take to be completed?
Typically glasses can take anywhere from 3 to 10 days depending on the type of lens treatments you order for your lenses. Some of the more advanced options can take a bit longer.
Why are there so many different lens choices?
Today we are fortunate that new technologies have provided us with many lens choices to provide crisp vision. These choices allow opticians to match the best lens designs with your needs. Our Board Certified Opticians will help guide you through the maze of choices to find the lens product that will work best for you.
Why is a glasses prescription only good for 1 year?
Most eyeglass prescriptions expire in 1 year because your eyes may change, and it's important to have your eyes checked regularly for more serious complications. If you had a problem like glaucoma, retinal damage, cataracts, etc., the earlier it is detected, the better chance of successful treatment.
If I wear contacts why do I need a back-up pair of glasses?
It is very important to have a back-up pair of glasses in the event you have an eye health issue and cannot wear your contacts. We also recommend that you give your eyes a break from contacts in the evenings and weekends. If you travel it’s also important to have a back-up option in case you need it.
Do I need to leave my glasses with you if I’m getting new lenses?
It is always best to insure a perfect fit, but we do have frame tracers to enable you to keep wearing your frame while waiting for new lenses.
If I don’t have my prescription can you call and get it for me?
We would be happy to call and have your prescription faxed to us. You will need to sign a records release form in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
What will a complete pair of glasses cost?
We have a wide range of choices, from reliable budget eyewear to some of the finest designers in the world. We believe that quality eyewear should be affordable, functional and provide excellent vision. Many of our patients delight in wearing the latest designs in frames and optics, others prefer sturdy attractive eyewear. Our opticians specialize in guiding you to eyewear that is appropriate for all tastes and budgets.
Are the discount chain store prices really lower?
In many cases only the advertised item is lower. The products that you may need for your best vision are often priced higher or not available at all. You may end up purchasing products that you don’t need or that don't work well for you. You generally get what you pay for.
What type of warranty comes with your glasses?
There is a minimum one year warranty covering manufacturers defects on most frames. Lenses with a premium treatment added have a one year manufacturer warranty. Some special lens treatments come with a two year warranty.
Do I get a case with my glasses?
We are happy to provide you with a high quality case, special lens cleaner and a premium cleaning cloth to protect your eyewear investment.

What is quality sunwear?
Quality is largely a personal issue. Depending on whom you ask, quality sunwear may mean high performance, uncompromised protection or brand name. Ultimately what you get out of your sunwear will determine what you consider high quality. There are some key elements of sunwear that can factor into quality no matter your personal preference, including:
—Durability
—Comfort
—Visual acuity
—100% UV protection
Quality sunwear can be found at a variety of prices - just because a pair of sunglasses is inexpensive, don't assume that it's poorly made; or if it's more expensive that it's well made! Your eyecare professional can help you choose a quality pair of sunglasses to fit your needs in your price range.
What should I consider when selecting my sunwear?
You should consider how you will be using both the frame and lens:
—Will they meet your needs and expectations?
—Do you want them for dress, sports or multi-purpose use?
—Does the sunwear provide the look and image you want to achieve?
—Does it have the performance features you need?
—Is the frame comfortable, lightweight and durable?
—If you have skin allergies, is the frame hypoallergenic?
—If they are intended for high impact use, are the lenses appropriate?
—Is the color and darkness appropriate to enhancing your activity and comfort?
—Does it provide maximum UV protection?
—What types of enhancements are available to improve your performance and comfort: i.e. polarized, photochromic, anti-reflective lenses?
Do darker lenses indicate more UV protection?
No, the amount of UV protection is not dependent on lens darkness. Lightly tinted lenses can easily block up to 100 percent UV. However, darker lenses can better protect night vision and may also provide greater comfort depending on the use and light sensitivity of the wearer.
Should sunglasses be worn for driving?
During the day, absolutely! Sunglasses worn by drivers reduce glare and improve visibility. The right sunglasses can allow clearer, safer and more comfortable vision while driving. Wearing sunglasses during the day also allows your eyes to adapt to the dark faster.
How many pairs of sunglasses should someone own?
Different lifestyles, occupations and activities require different lenses and frame features. Matching your lifestyle needs with the right kind of eyewear not only increases comfort and protects your vision, it can also enhance your performance.
