Paul Imperia, MD
General Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery Specialist
Dr. Imperia is a highly trained and experienced board certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship-trained cornea specialist. He is also one of the Pacific Northwest’s most experienced LASIK surgeons. His practice includes the treatment of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and many other medical and surgical conditions.
Dr. Imperia teaches fellow ophthalmologists and optometrists in the fields of LASIK, cataract surgery, and corneal disease. He has participated in FDA trials on LASIK and has been published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.
Volunteer work has become an important part of his career. Locally, Dr. Imperia and the team at Medical Eye Center donates time and resources to La Clinica, providing routine eye care, glasses, and surgical procedures to low income families. He also leads a team that provides outreach screenings at seasonal migrant worker camps. Overseas, Dr. Imperia works with the Himalayan Cataract Project and Surgical Eye Expeditions, traveling to Nepal, Ethiopia and Honduras, doing free eye surgery and teaching local doctors. He is also helping to establish the first LASIK program in Nepal.
An avid outdoorsman and athlete, Dr. Imperia enjoys fly fishing, running, cycling, backpacking and skiing with his wife and their border collie. A veteran triathlete, he is one of the few people to complete the grueling Hawaii Ironman Triathlon.
