An Important Message about COVID-19

We understand these are difficult times.  Information about COVID-19 is changing on a regular basis as federal and state officials make recommendations or requirements.  The majority of our patient population falls under the higher risk category, so we want to be vigilant in keeping them safe.  We have implemented many changes to decrease the risk of the virus spread. Below are the changes we have made with the safety of our community in mind.

At this time, Medical Eye Center is restricting non-essential appointments for patients, and focusing on urgent medical visits. This means that if you have a regular eye exam or any other type of appointment that can be safely delayed, we will be rescheduling those appointments for a later date. If you have not already been contacted by our staff regarding your upcoming appointment, we may contact you in the future as circumstances change.

We will still accept patients to our Medford facility with urgent problems.  If you are not sure whether or not your condition is urgent, please call us at 541-779-4711 so that a doctor may assess your symptoms.  If you do have an urgent problem but are experiencing a respiratory illness or other symptoms of the Coronavirus, please contact us prior to coming into our facility. While we are committed to helping our patients, we must be responsible about keeping our other patients and our staff healthy and reducing the risk of infection.

Our Grants Pass office is temporarily closed on most days.  However, Dr. Craig Lemley, our Retina Specialist, will still be seeing patients there once a month.  If you have any urgent problems, please call us at 541-779-4711 to be seen in our Medford office.

Renew Medical Spa is temporarily closed.  No services will be offered while the spa is closed. However, if you’d like to purchase skin care products or makeup, we will gladly take payment over the phone and either arrange for your item(s) to be directly shipped to you, or safely picked up from our office.  For the remainder of the week, our spa staff members will be accepting phone calls and rescheduling appointments.  Starting March 23, any phone calls made to Renew Medical Spa will be rolled to our phone operators, who will make sure that your questions, concerns, and scheduling needs get addressed by one of our technicians, who will call you back.

Our Optical Shop will be functioning in a very limited capacity. We will be dispensing current glasses and contact lens orders and completing glasses adjustments.  We will not be placing any new eyeglass or new contact lens orders, but will be happy to help you reorder contact lenses, or fill a current glasses prescription if you’d like to reuse a glasses frame that has been purchased from us within the last year.  Any contact lens orders that are to be dispensed with a contact lens fit/doctor visit will be postponed – our scheduler will contact you if this applies to you.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread, we will be screening patients on the phone, and also every person who walks through the front door.  If you are symptomatic or have recently traveled internationally or domestically to states with high numbers of infected patients or been in contact with someone who has, please be prepared to wait in your car, and one of our staff members will call you with further instruction.

Cleaning protocols throughout the day and between each patient have been increased.  Please wash or sanitize your hands upon entering the building, and do not bring excess visitors with you to your appointment.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and flexibility as we all do our best to navigate this dynamic situation. We are receiving updates from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as Centers for Disease Control and the Oregon Health Authority so we can make the most educated decisions on how to provide or restrict patient care. We appreciate your patience as we all work through this situation.

Please keep in mind that the above resources serve as guidelines.  Should you have any questions or concerns at all, please call us at 541-779-4711 and we will do what we can to address your needs. We wish you the very best as you navigate these challenging times.

Stay well,

Medical Eye Center
