Welcome to our newest surgeons, Dr. Echalier and Dr. Patel!

Dr. Lacey Echalier, Dr. Poorav Patel

Medical Eye Center extends a warm welcome to our newest doctors, Dr. Lacey Echalier and Dr. Poorav Patel.

Dr. Patel’s broad area of focus includes glaucoma, medical retinal conditions, clinical research, cataracts and general ophthalmology. He earned his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University, and holds a Master of Health Science in genetic epidemiology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Patel completed his residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California where he served as Chief Resident. He also served as Chief Resident at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. During this time, he traveled to the world-renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India to learn how to perform surgery in high volume settings. Dr. Patel grew up in Brookings, OR where his father and brother are both practicing MDs. His wife, Jothi Kanagalingam, MD, has been working in the Rogue Valley in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Disease for the last 4 years. They have both enjoyed settling into Southern Oregon with their young son.  Read more about Dr. Patel here.

Dr. Echalier joins us from Colorado and replaces our previous oculoplastic specialist, Matt Hauck, MD, who left our practice in November 2019 to live closer to family. She received her medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical School and completed both her residency and ASOPRS (American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) Fellowship at the University of Colorado. In Denver, Lacey collaborated with a local free clinic to provide free monthly ophthalmology care to uninsured or underinsured patients in her community. In 2019 she traveled to the Dominican Republic to operate and teach oculoplastics at an eye hospital. She looks forward to participating in more international and local outreach.

Dr. Echalier’s extensive training allows her to work closely with you to formulate an individualized treatment plan that will optimize both functional and esthetic results. Whether your interest is cosmetic or medical, Dr. Echalier believes in taking an integrative approach to facial rejuvenation, with a team approach to patient care. She and her family love the outdoors and are looking forward to making their home here.  Read more about Dr. Echalier here.

Both doctors are currently accepting new patients.  Call us at 541.779.4711 to schedule your appointment today.
