Giving Back To The Community With Medical Eye Center

As the holidays draw near, there are many opportunities to serve the community around us. At Medical Eye Center, we believe these opportunities exist throughout the year, not just during the holiday season. Although one special way to support children in our community is through our CASA Giving Tree (find out how to help at the end of this blog), we also have other ways you can impact the world around you during the rest of the year.

Our local community: Medical Eye Center is proud to partner with amazing organizations like ACCESS and La Clinica to help provide eye care and services to low-income and uninsured members of the community. Our work with ACCESS spans two decades and includes raising over $200,000 for low-income and elderly populations in Southern Oregon. At La Clinica, Medical Eye Center has helped provide hundreds of patients with high-quality eye care and vision-restoring surgeries.  To learn more about our local efforts, click HERE

Around the world: One of our most popular procedures, LASIK, also has an incredible impact through our Global Partners Program. For each LASIK surgery our surgeons perform, this program sponsors one sight-restoring cataract surgery in countries like Nepal, Ghana, and Ethiopia. Because cataracts are a leading cause of blindness worldwide, this is an effective way to combat this global health challenge. Cataract blindness can be cured with a ten-minute procedure for as little as $25 per eye. To learn more about our global reach, click HERE

Local holiday opportunity: Last year, Medical Eye Center partnered with CASA to help vulnerable children in our community, and together with other organizations, we served 555 children. This year, we are excited to partner with CASA again as an official Giving Tree location. CASA advocates are trained to serve children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. They advocate for the children’s best interests and offer insights to the court systems about how to create a safe and nurturing home for each child.

How you can help:

  • If you stop by one of our locations, you can choose a gift-giving tree tag.
  • Shop for the requested items for the child in need.
  • Bring your gifts with the tag attached to Medical Eye Center by December 16th.

We hope you will partner with us to bolster support for CASA, the community, and the children they serve. To find the nearest location to you, please visit this page for the details. By helping support the children in our community, you are creating ripples of positive effects, and we are so grateful for your partnership. At Medical Eye Center, our philosophy about giving back extends through the year and is part of our legacy.  Together, we can help ensure a joyful holiday for even the most vulnerable in Southern Oregon.
