We are looking for a professional to assist our RNs in providing pre-operative and post-operative care. This professional is able to recognize potential complications and report to the appropriate team member. 

Although we prefer experience working in ophthalmology as well as a basic knowledge of medical-surgical experience. we are willing to train a less experienced tech with the skills and attributes that we value. Must be CPR certified.

Job Skills and Requirements: 

  • Good communication skills. 
  • Adequate understanding of operative procedures required patient preparations and expected postoperative course. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of care given in the freestanding ambulatory surgery unit. 
  • Awareness of symptoms and possible complications of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures performed; ability to report any concerns to the RN. 
  • Skilled in patient population and age-based competencies. 
  • Able to recognize and report hazardous equipment. 
  • Knowledge of the mission, policies, procedures, philosophies, standards, goals, and objectives of the center as well as the organization’s plan for improvement; especially those pertaining to the pre and post-operative areas. 
  • Dresses within the dress code requirement of the facility. 
  • Sufficient computer skills to work with EMR and facility e-mail. 

 PRE-OPERATIVE AREA 

  1. Opens unit for the day
  2. Stocks and restocks area. Assures the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  3. Identifies items needing to be reordered.
  4. Assists in the proper preparation of supplies and equipment in patient area.
  5. Keeps area neat, clean, and patient-ready.
  6. Communicates clearly with team members, physicians, CRNA’s, patients, and family as needed.
  7. Correctly identifies the patient.
  8. Introduces self to patient and care persons.
  9. Identifies patient using 2 methods.
  10. Admits patient to pre-operative area. Verifies consent places headcover and monitoring equipment on the patient, reviews post-op instructions as needed by the admitting RN, and enters appropriate charting into EMR. May be asked by RN to assist in other ways under the scope of practice. Knowledgeable ofpt’sallergies. 
  11. End of shift: turns off monitor and computer.
  12. Neatly wraps cables.
  13. Restocks each admission room and blanket warmer.

POST-OPERATIVE AREA 

  1. Opens unit for the day.
  2. Clarifies with patients their knowledge of their one-day post-op appointment.
  3. Maintains Recovery Room log.
  4. Takes and records vital signs.
  5. Removes headcover and monitoring equipment.
  6. Prepares refreshments for the patient.
  7. Copies anesthesia forms.
  8. Review instructions.
  9. Discontinue IV.
  10. Assist patient with transportation.
  11. Clean chair and other equipment.
  12. Set up a station for the next patient.
  13. Restock supplies, refreshments, sheets, and biohazard bags.
  14. Checks for an accurate number of charge tickets and takes them to the co-management desk.
  15. Places charts and recovery room log in the locked cabinet.

Wage: $17-$23 / hr

We are looking for a Facility Specialist to oversee the planning, purchasing, development, maintenance, and functional operations of Medical Eye Center equipment, grounds, and buildings. The Facility Specialist also assists in compliance areas for state and federal healthcare-specific codes and standards (EPA, CDC, OSHA, etc). 

The wage range is $23.00/hour to $30.00/hour.  

32-40 hours/wk. 

Primary responsibilities included but are not limited to:

Facility & Grounds (both Medford and Grants Pass) 

  • Large mechanical features: generator, elevator, HVAC, solar panels, humidifiers 

HVAC: Mitigate problems utilizing ‘iVue’ web-based controls. Adjust dampers, economizers and temp limits as needed. Insulate gas regulators for winter. Coordinate outside service as needed 

  • Humidifiers: check operation as needed. 
  • Adjust economizer as needed on humid days (aiming for lower humidity) 
  • Plumbing: minor repairs, leaks, toilet issues. Coordinate outside service as needed. 
  • Paint, lighting, carpet, windows, furniture: make small repairs, assemble or reconfigure, clean, replace when necessary. Coordinate outside services as needed 
  • Parking lot: ensure cleanliness and safety, maintain signage, de-ice and shovel as needed 
  • Vehicles: manage service regimen, clean batteries, change seasonal tires, complete safety inspections, renew registrations 
  • Rodent & pest control: check and bait traps, dispose of carcasses. Coordinate outside services as needed 
  • Install signage, plaques, photos, artwork, cabinetry 
  • Gas tanks: keep storage area tidy and organized. Process small O2 tanks as needed. Coordinate copper line service/repair as needed. 
  • Ice machine, water filters: clean, disinfect, replace filters 
  • Storage units: catalog and organize items in each unit, move items to/from, limit inventory housed 
  • Check plants in containers at building entry and contact landscapers if attention needed 
  • Electric doors: ensure optimal functioning, clean tracks, reset, change security codes 
  • Standard doors: install, move, repair, coordinate outside service as needed 
  • Elevator – Save service records on the network, report problems to OTIS, replace bulbs as needed. 
  • Arrange electrical and solar panel repairs and maintenance as needed 

Equipment – In conjunction with IT/Quality Manager 

  • Preventative maintenance annually for lasers, biometry, OCTs, Coolsculpting, LSEC microscopes, Sterilizers 
  • Research, negotiate, procure new equipment 
  • Perform minor repairs 

Exam lane repairs: projector wall mounts, bulb replacements, acuity calibration, slit lamp microscope repairs. Coordinate outside service or replacement as needed 

  • Coordinate sending equipment or instruments for repair 
  • Test, verify, calibrate (if possible) tonopens and pachymeters when suspect, send in for repair as needed 
  • Coordinate annual testing for patient monitor and Bovie in oculoplastic department 

Qualifications 

Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy; work productively independently and in a team setting; communicate with clarity, verbally and in writing to groups and individuals. 

Education and/or Experience Required 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field 
  • Background in construction, engineering, or mechanical/equipment maintenance fields 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a healthcare facility setting 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience reading and interpreting contracts as well as leading contract negotiations 
  • Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise, and positive outcomes in difficult interactions 
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license, reliable transportation, safe driving record, and insurance coverage required 
  • Experience working with and around diverse populations 
  • Experience in healthcare preferred

Our team of surgical technologists play an integral role in helping our patients see the world differently. Working alongside our surgeons and nursing staff, collaborating with our care team, our surgical technologists ensure that our surgical team is supported seamlessly with precision and efficiency. 

We are looking for either a certified surgical technologists or LPN to work in our surgery center. The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to details, has outstanding communication skills, and above all, is compassionate. This person performs scrub and assisting duties for the surgeon, assists in care and preparation of the surgical patient by performing routine and delegated duties according to policies.

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • Assists surgeon during surgical procedures of cataract, glaucoma, cornea, retina, and oculoplastic surgery.
  • Performs instrument cleaning, packaging, and sterilization.
  • Assists circulator as part of surgical team when directed.
  • Assists in housekeeping duties and cleanliness of the department as directed to ensure a safe patient environment.
  • Assists in transportation of patients to and from the surgical suite as needed.
  • Assists in the maintenance, care, and cleanliness of supplies.
  • Performs additional activities and duties as directed.
  • Assumes responsibility for good working relationships, attitude, and actions.
  • Must receive 16 CEU’s every 2 years to maintain Surgical Technician status.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Proof of a 2-year surgical technologist certification course is required.
  • Certification course requirement waived for persons assisting for at least 2 years prior to July 1, 2017, in Oregon.
  • Certification course requirement waived for persons with current LPN license in the State of Oregon.

Wage range $24.00-$30.00

Our special testing technicians are the information collectors who support our mission to deliver exceptional eye care.  These individuals guide patients during testing, help to ease the anxiety that many patients experience, while simultaneously paying close attention to the details of the test they are completing for our doctors.  

The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, communicates well, and has great attention to detail. A person in this role will work directly in patient care-assisting patients with positioning, collecting medical information, preparing, sanitizing and calibrating equipment, and completing accurate measurements and special testing.
